The Road Not Taken
Two roads diverged in a yellow wood,
And sorry I could not travel both
And be one traveler, long I stood
And looked down one as far as I could
To where it bent in the undergrowth;
Then took the other, just as fair,
And having perhaps the better claim,
Because it was grassy and wanted wear;
Though as for that passing there
Had worn them really about the same,
And both that morning equally lay
In leaves no step had trodden black.
Oh, I kept the first for another day!
Yet knowing how way leads to way,
I doubted if I should ever come back.
Somewhere ages and ages hence:
Two roads diverged in a wood, and I -
I took the one less traveled by,
And that has made all the difference.
- Robert Frost -
I love poetry and have always especially liked this poem by Robert Frost. We probably all wonder at one time or another during the course of our lives, what would be different if we had traveled "The Road Not Taken".
Be sweet!

Oh, it does, Glynis. I could read this over and over. It does cause us to ponder!!
Hi Polly,
You are definitely an angel... I have been away and couldn't respond to the comment you left on my blog.
I hurried over today to say thank you for the visit and here on your blog is one of my all time favorite poems by Robert Frost!
I memorized this poem as a young girl and recited it often; including in speech and drama class.
You have a beautiful blog and I will follow you. Thanks again for your feedback. I am always happy to make a new blogging friend.
Cheers,
Eliz
Thank you so much for such kind remarks. It surely makes my day!!! What a coincidence that the poem was there when you visited that you had memorized as a child!!!
This is also my favorite Frost poem. It classically fits many of life's situations. I just love it so much. Thank you so much for sharing!

You are SO welcome! I am glad you liked it. I love poetry and have written quite a lot, although not in a long time. I had lots published when I was writing and submitting them. I also love true haiuku, the kind written by the old masters.
I love Robert Frost's poetry. This one is especially nice. I too wonder about roads not taken during our life but perhaps, we were never meant to travel on them anyway.
BTW, have recently travelled to Arkansas to a place called Eureka Springs. Had a great time and hope to be posting some pictures soon.
