Lordie, This Must Be Heaven

I have been baking bread every day for some time now.  I love the fresh bread and the lovely aroma hanging in the air.  When I come in my door it is the first thing to greet me.

I have lately tried my hand at sourdough bread.  I have a starter going now and have baked with it a few times.  The texture is quite different as well as the flavor.  Nevertheless it is delicious.  I have all kinds of goodies planned to bake soon.  One night Brandon, one of my grandsons, and I stayed up most of the night doing the once a month cooking thing.  We had a blast and he has helped me plan what we will bake next.

Now that I am back into the bread making, I am going to try homemade hot pockets, chocolate rolls, cinnamon rolls (which I made often when my children were home) and all sorts of good things to eat!  Now that I am retired and with much more time on my hands than I've had in a while, I am ready to do some experimenting.  So what if I do put on a few pounds....grandmas are supposed to be fat!

I have a front deck that stretches from one side of my house to the other and a tall oak that didn't suffer too much damage from the ice storm.  I am looking forward to warm weather, sitting out in the shade with a tall, ice cold glass of lemonade, a homemade pepperoni pizza hot pocket, my laptop and a grandchild and lordie, I will swear I have already died and this must be Heaven!!!   Be sweet and be good.

Hi Polly,
Sounds like you found your own piece of heaven!

I have been baking bread for a few months and my husband and I love it! It is so much better than store bread, and it's such a treat! I will have to try other breads and I want to make some raspberry rubharb jam, yummy!

Have a great night

I love to bake bread too. But it takes time and I do not have much of that right now. But the smell is unbelievable and I find making the dough so relaxing.

I, too, make homemade bread (well, rolls, actually). Homemade hotpockets sound delicious!

I can smell it baking right now. There's no better smell that fresh bread lingering throughout the house.

Oh I bet your house smells good! I love the smell of fresh baked bread. So do my kids. I make bread for dinner, they eat it up right after school.

I bet spring is nice at your house...

I just started baking bread again recently too..
I have made two batches of cinnamon rolls over the last two weeks. Nothing smells better baking, does it?
I better get walking or the buns will increase my buns...

Polly, have you made Salt Rising Bread? It's in the TG book and I have a recipe for it -- it's not easy to make, which is why I haven't made it yet *laugh*...

Almost every recipe seems to be different in some way....

I also am looking forward to the beauty of spring. The seasons changing is so beautiful. I find you admirable to blog and have a laptop. I find this a little difficult, but it is so nice to read about nice people like you.
Baking bread also.

I got a starter for that Amish Friendship bread about a month ago now. as it increases exponentially, my house is over run with strters and loaves faster than i can give them away.
I see you made your own starter. I'd like to know how to do that so I am not dependent or wasting tons of flour/sugar/milk on starters i can't use. Help!

Are you doing this all by hand or do you have a bread making machine? You gottta do all that punching down and waiting?
with great admiration-

How do you make hot pockets? Here in UK I haven't seen any recipes on how to make those but they sound yummy!!! You need to start doing recipes for these wonderful things you post about and making our mouths water!

Heaven comes from within. You must have a wonderful soul. I am waiting to sit on the porch and enjoy the wonders of my garden. When will it come.
